Lung - Why Does Anyone Ever Do Anything? EP (MEDIC28)
@MedSchoolMusic drops Lung’s brilliant Why Does Anyone Ever Do Anything? EP. Featuring beautiful vocals from Rachel K Collier on the title track, Lung effortlessly winds down the BPM to slower sounds with Sky People. Brilliant, bubbling bass notes on top of what can only be described as weightless skipping drums.
After this, we quickly move on to Asleep In Her Bed, a deep atmospheric piece containing a cacophony of clicks and notes, bringing the listener sounds reminiscent of Bluetech’s Triange (Retriangulated) albeit a little faster!
Lung the steps up the pace once more for Complete Me, Completely, a hard stomping bass line, with a brilliantly skipped rhythm and perfect use of percussion.
To top it off, we’re given a radio edit of Why Does Anyone Ever Do Anything? with it’s warm, welcoming bass notes, soft strings, and wonderful floating vocals from Rachel K Collier.
In all, a outstanding EP from Lung. Something you expect no less than from Med School!

London-based producer Menik drops his astounding 5 track EP on Lifestyle Recordings. Containing remixes from Cliffhanga and Indigo, this EP is definitely worth the money, let alone worth the listening time.

Command Strange pulls a slightly different sound out the bag, with this minimal atmospheric 140 track entitled Soulmate. With soft, gliding pads and a deep rumbling bass line alongside, this piece switches style repeatedly whilst at the same time keeping Command Strange’s sound consistent throughout.
Slow amen breaks, and a garage influenced four to the floor section drop highlights CS’s ability to cross over styles not only from one track to the next but within individual productions as well.
Sabre, Stray & Halogenix come together with force for Critical Music’s 61st release on its books. With Oblique taking speakers by storm, the track encorporates warm, soft synth notes with light, yet perfectly fitting drums. On top of this, smooth Jazz vocals from Frank Carter III has this piece gliding effortlessly as a liquid d&b track.
On the flip we have a nice bumpy, techy roller as is the norm with Critical, and this is found in the shape of St Clair. Dirty, rolling basslines and glitchy drums, the ease at which these three producers so easily combine their production skills can be heard clearly with this track.
Finally to top it off, Synkro puts together an ever-so-chilled remix of Oblique. Slow rising basslines, and drawn out strings has this 140 BPM clickstep not disappointing!

Goth-Trad returns to Deep Medi once more to bring us this deep sound strait out of Japan. Starting off with an upfront piece of dirty (Airbreaker), aggressive bass lines, Goth-Trad goes on to switch up the vibe with Cosmos. Fast wobbled bass lines and tripping drums holding this piece together perfectly. The first in a line of singles from Goth-Trad’s forthcoming album New Epoch (out February 2012).
Physical Illusion returns on Intelligent Recordings for 2012 with his Save Me EP. Featuring a mixture of bumping Liquid, Jungle-esque sounds, Dubstep and Funk, this EP has it all as one of the Ukrainian label’s first releases of 2012.
First off we’re given a fast-paced rolling piece of liquid with Turn On, before moving onto the swung jungle drums of One Chances Ladies. Muted horns, and gliding jazz piano has this piece floating effortlessly. Switching things up, Physical Illusion invites along Bulb to provide a deep, atmospheric remix for Save Me. A growling, oscillating bassline, distant reverbed vocals, and deep chimes has this 140 bpm piece slowing the EP down perfectly before jumping into the final track, Thunderbird.
Slow, chilled Funk, Physical Illusion brings in influences from the likes of Adam F and LTJ Bukem to bring this fun and bubbling track to end the EP with. Soft flutes and tight drums easily makes this track worthy of any chill out track list!
