Many of you may have already heard it, but Dub Phizix has managed to pull out another abosultely stonking 2-step roller, this time in the shape of Never Been. With Fox stepping up to add some undeniably fitting vocals to this already bumping track, this piece truly makes the speakers come alive when it’s played. With this deep minimal Jungle-esque piece smashing up dancefloors across the nation it’s only fitting that we give it some air time on our on page, and rightly so.
A track not heard much on the scene, Rags brings out its obscure samples and ten ton bass line to provide us with something special. With this track being the b-side to Marka, it’s understandable why it hasn’t been heard as much, though why we haven’t heard it being played more is anyone’s guess. What a track.
Skittles returns once more with another round of bars including remixes by Dub Phizix, Zed Bias & Joe Kalius. From the Grime original, we travel through the sounds of Garage, Breakbeat and Dubstep, with each artist bringing their own unique quality and sound to Skittles flowing lyrics.
Critical Music, rightly chosen as label as the month on Resident Advisor (May), have once again brought us another 12” of some of the finest tech on the scene.
Critical’s next release features Dub Phizix and Skeptical, bringing two of the finest tunes from the Critical Music inventory.
First up we have Break It, featuring a distorted and subbed bass like no other alongside a tight, percussion heavy beat.
On the flip, Dub Phizix teams up with Skeptical to bring the diabolically rolling tune, Four.
Simple shifting beats and solid bass, teamed up with industrial short sweeps has this tune becoming a serious stomper.
