Echo Festival 22-24 June 2012 - Makarska, Croatia.
The time is finally here for one of the festival season’s newcomers Echo Festival. Featuring a eclectic mix of bass music, Echo Festival will be holding some of the biggest names in Drum & Bass, UK house and Techno as well as handful of Dubstep greats.
For only £35 a ticket it’s a bit of a steal…and cheap flights are widely available for what’s to be a sick weekend away.
Lenzman and SpectraSoul head up the D&B alongside Zero T and Dispatch Recordings boss Ant TC1. Pariah also takes centre stage for the darker sounds before the likes of Hackman, Von D and others tear up the centrepiece.
A 3 day festival definitely worth checking out this summer if you’re in Europe, and with more artists still to be announced it’s gonna be popping off for sure.
Grab a littler taster of some of the beach party vibes here.
Hybris/Safire & Borderlines - The Blinds/Rebellion (DISLTD006)
Hybris, Safire & Borderlines take to the stage for the 6th release of Dispatch’s sister label- Dispatch Limited.
First up we have Hybris, with his 2-step, chopped drums and dark, gliding bass line. The track entitled The Blinds shows how Hybris has developed his sound, coming across with a warmer, bumping feel compared to some of his other, techier pieces.
On the flip we’re met by Safire & Borderlines with their track entitled Rebellion. A hard-hitting piece with attitude, Rebellion has it’s harsh spectral sweeps and pumping rhythm, completing this piece as a seriously bumping roller.
Italian producer Dabs steps up to the plate for Dispatch Recordings’ latest release entitled Subsidary EP. Featuring collaborations from the likes of Safire, Cern and Amoss, Dabs conjures up something a littler darker than usual for the Dispatch crew.
Starting things off with Dabs’ deep roller Subsidary, we quickly move onto the co-lab tracks with Safire and Cern, speeding up the pace whilst bringing in grittier basslines and fresh drums.
What Dabs has been able to do with this EP is bring a darker, faster vibe to Dispatch whilst still keeping the label’s unique sound ever-present. Grab a listen and you’ll know what we’re on about!
Need For Mirrors returns to Dispatch Recordings for a mighty release featuring the sounds of Kiat. On the top we have Donuts, a track jumping straight from the drop with a stomping bassline. With a tight skipping 2-step hits and a stomping kick, this track pops right off the line with a distinct Dispatch Recordings sound whilst still keeping it fresh.
On the B-side, we’re faced with Badfellaz, a cheeky bumping riddim straight on the pace from the drop with its diving bassline and mysterious chimes. Big time roller.
A/ Need For Mirrors - Donuts B/ Need For Mirrors & Kiat - Badfellaz
Not many of you may have heard of him, but Bazil aka James Bainbridge brings us this wicked roller entitled Premonitions (the B side to Critters).
Dirty industrial distortion, deep sub and a tight skipping beat keeps this tune rolling all the way through! Bazil’s deep, augmented techy roller shows that Guildford, Surrey is definitely not a place to forget in the ever growing techy d&b scene.
With tunes forthcoming on Dispatch, Broken Audio, Cyclon and Hustle Audio, Guildford based Bazil is definitely one to keep an eye on!
Something to listen over for the next hour whilst I put together a “Don’t Forget… @ Fabric” post. This one’s by Ant TC1 - Producer, DJ and Owner of Dispatch Recordings.
